I burnt down the woods just to prove I could but not a sound made it out the mouths of the crowd when I lit the match, smiled and stood back. All the smoke just distended their hollow chests.
When the fire spread to the town they locked their houses and around their necks they hung their doubts. Like nervous lambs, they held their head in their hands and wore their fingers on their faces akin to a mask.

Now there's a taste on my tongue that lingers in my throat and to my lungs. It dulls the ache in my brain but I still feel its roots in my veins.
